From the 1950s all the way through the 1980s Americans were told to stay prepared for a nuclear war with Russia. But after the fall of the soviet union, we have slipped into a relaxed state of readiness. The nation – as a whole – is less prepared now then we were 30 years ago.

Sooner or later we are going to pay the price for our laziness.
